Jim Ebdon (Police, Annie Lennox, Siouxsie and the Banshees) currently the FOH engineer for Maroon 5 spoke with us about his use of the Phoenix Audio N8 8 channel DI with Maroon 5. Ebdon took the advice of fellow live sound engineer James McCullagh (FOH Lucinda Williams, Journey, Backstreet Boys) and tried the N8 on the drum triggers (all 8 channels are being used).
He set up the N8 in the rack and basically let it do its thing, "it's very reliable, I just don't have to worry about it" Ebdon says.
When asked why he chose the N8 overall Ebdon says "of all the others we A/B tested and tried out the N8 was the most accurate, It didn't add anything undesirable and it has just a very natural sound"
Ebdon is using an SSL L500 and says that the N8's headroom is very high and there is no problems no matter how hard he drives it. "It's a great compact unit of 8 channels that takes up only 1 space in the rack."
Jim Ebdon has a pair of the Pivot Tone Channel 500's at the moment and we are excited to hear what he has to say about those next!
