The Story of Phoenix Audio
Hi, My name is Shaun Leveque. A little about myself first.
I spent much time as I was growing up pulling transistor radios televisions and home Hi-Fi systems apart to satisfy my curiosity about how electronic things worked and I spent 3 years training as a Prototype Wireman within the electronics industry.
Since then I worked as a freelance prototype wiring technicians building prototypes for many different types of projected from Hostess Trolleys (had to start somewhere) right through to missile launch systems and microwave and satellite communications systems, but always maintained an interest in audio.
After working for a number of audio manufacturing companies, such as Drake Electronics, Soundcraft and small companies dealing mainly with Neve equipment, I decided to set up Phoenix Audio (UK) to help serve the needs of the Neve community with spares, modifications and equipment.
It soon became obvious that the better sounding Class A equipment was not as available as people would have liked, that it was still very much based on 60's and 70's technology, and that with today's component availability, it could be improved upon and made more accessible to the end user.
Within 2 years we had already developed our unique Class A discrete output stage (TF1) to enable retrofitting of existing equipment with a true Class A output, and developed the Class A discrete Stereo DI, so it was only a matter of time before the Class A, transformerless, discrete Input Stage was conceived, designed and developed to better any transformer input for frequency response, but still keep the Class A sound qualities.
We now have a dedicated team who are committed to to Class A discrete technology and are continuing to develop further high quality products for the discerning musical ear. All of our equipment is manufactured in-house using our own assembly team, and is then thoroughly bench tested. Final test before packing is the ultimate, we LISTEN to it!
We hope you find our equipment exceeds your expectations. We believe there is nothing that more closely emulates the spirit and sound of the best of the past, with the technology of today.
If you ever visit the U.K. I would be pleased to take you on a personal tour of our facilites.
Best regards,
-Shaun Leveque
